Welcome to the new and re-done YTS website!
First of all, welcome to our new website. We hope you love it as much as we do.
A lot has changed in this new website so lets get right to it with the list of major changes:
Addition of the Blog
If you are reading this it means you have found our new (basic) blog page; this is where we will make announcements or communicate with our users.
This could include any updates regarding faulty encodes, technical issues, or new future features.
To get to the blog you will be able to find a link in the footer of every page as follows:
At times we will have important news and we will be announcing them on the front page like this post, so keep an eye out.
Combining all the torrent qualities to one movie
This has been one of the most requested changes over the past 2-3 years. Until now it was impossible to achieve due to our initial database structure, but it has all been reworked now. We have now combined all the torrent qualities into a single movie page.
You are now able to download torrents in various ways:
- From the browse page
- From the movie page
As some of you might have noticed, we are finally embracing the future. We have added a responsive layout for our mobile users making life a little easier when it comes to surfing the website from your smart phone. We hope you enjoy this.
Addition of bookmarks
We have added the ability for logged in users to be able to bookmark movies for later view or download.
To bookmark a film you will have to do the following:
To view your bookmarks you will have to navigate to the bookmarks page from your navigation bar, assuming you are logged in.
Movie Technical Specs
All the movie technical specs have been moved to the middle of the page. this includes things like Seeds/Peers, subtitles, and more.
More Movie content
We have added more content, This includes Rotten Tomatoes rating scores and IMDb reviews as seen in the images below:
The new site has the addition of both a report button and a like button for logged in users. This will be in place to help us moderate the comment section, making sure that the most relevant comments are kept and spam is removed.
As lots of you might have noticed, the old website was having a hard time performance-wise. We have put in hours of construction to make sure this new version is as efficient as possible. Fingers crossed this version will perform far better than anything else.
Now this was a very tricky situation; due to the major database structure changes we were unable to keep all of the old API endpoints. Thus we have now launched API version 2 as per the new docs.
Here the api data is much more friendly; and the error handling is done much nicer. So to all the developers who rely on our api, sorry for the change but please do update your application as soon as possible so we can shut down the old api endpoints.
Thank you for reading this and we hope you enjoy the new website.
